Product Accelerator Announcement

28 August 2013

From Mark Taylor, Director

This week the Materials Accelerator began its formal transition to the Product Accelerator with the Government announcement of long term funding for the new programme.

Funding of $12.7m over six years has been awarded, in a strongly competitive bid round to an expanded group of researchers across NZ. This builds on the success of the applied research in the Materials Accelerator and extends the group’s capability in product and industrial design, and in advanced manufacturing – especially additive manufacturing (3D Printing) technologies.

The guiding, proven principles of partnership with NZ companies and connection and establishment of strong, relevant basic research are carried forward into the new Product Accelerator in a national “NZ-Inc” approach, alongside and in collaboration with Callaghan Innovation.
